My Heart
In the center of the city
In the middle of a house
There is a book on a desk
And it’s opened to the
Climax of the story
A final battle between characters
And the tension is too high
Two sides have been drawn
And they ready their weapons
Ready to defend their truth
But the conflict stops
In the ending of the climax
In the last page of this chapter
A page is left torn out and
Disposed from the tale
Stopping everything short
Maybe the reader didn’t want
To know how it ends
Or they hated what happens
But no matter what comes next
The story is still complete
It concludes on its own
And all the same, it renews
And all the while it restarts
Because when one tale is finished
New issues arrive and must be
Written and recorded
So I will transcribe these journeys
Because every protagonist needs
Their story told to the world–
Even if no one listens to it
It is needed somewhere else
It is needed in my heart

Notes:
My belief is stories should be allowed to be heard— there are so many people with unique voices that bring so much to their work. And there are many more people who need to see themselves represented in those stories. If you have a story you want to write, but don’t think anyone will care, write it anyway. Your voice can bring so much to the world. Even if not many people end up reading it, there still may be one or two people that it leaves a profound impact on.
And I think that alone makes it worth the time and energy. My goal with my writing is to always create some sort of impact. I hope people will be moved by whatever I create. Because it becomes meaningful to know someone’s life was changed even slightly by my work.
