The Voyager Knows.
“Papa, what’s this?” She asks,
Holding in her hands a golden disc.
The old man pauses, glancing
Curiously at the record.
“Now,” He smiles fondly, “My oh my,
Where did you find that, Neveah?”
She beams, her eyes sparkling
Green with mischief, hiding no intent.
“Outside our tanna1, Papa.”
“Hm… indeed,” He strokes his
Antenna, appearing lost in thought.
“Tell you what, my dearest,”
He starts, and she grins with eager.
“Tonight, before recharge, I’ll tell you
All about a planet once known as Earth.”
She screams with delight, “Papa,
“You’re the best.” She hugs him.
But as he holds her, a wistful
Memory falters his smile.
“If only,” He whispers softly,
But she doesn’t hear.
Made up word for village.

Oooh, very cool that you were inspired by the Voyager probes for a story as well! 😄
