Your Heart.
Your heart is beautiful,
Soft, and delicate.
Yet it remains as tough
As diamonds, and rugged
to touch.
And as I run my fingers
Gently over it.
I am amazed, shocked,
And brought to tears
by its history.
You can feel the spots where
There were once walls.
To protect it, to keep yourself
From anymore harm.
And though some of
Those walls are no longer
there.
You flinch and search for
Them whenever someone
gets close to you.
It is hard to love when
Love has hurt so deep before.
But with you in my arms,
I begin to wonder how I can
Help you feel happy, once more.
